Just a reminder that CRCT is right around the corner. It begins Thursday April 16th, right after spring break. Please be sure your child eats a healthy breakfast, gets a good night's sleep, and gets to school on time.

Check out www.georgiaoas.org for extra practice for CRCT. The password is abc123. Please send me an email if you need your child's login number.

Have a fantastic spring break!

Dear Mr. President

After President Obama's inauguration, we wrote letters to the new president with our ideas and questions. Some of the students recorded their letters on video. Here are a couple samples:

Reminders

Thanks for reading! Just a few reminders for February...

1. Uniforms - remember that students should not be wearing non-uniform color sweatshirts or undershirts to school. All shirts must be blue, gray, or white.

2. Bingo Night - Please submit your donations for Bingo Night! It's an important fundraiser for the 5th grade graduation and we need your support.

3. Valentine's Day - We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday February 13th. If your child chooses to bring valentines, please have him/her bring one for each student in his/her homeroom.

5th Grade is in Full Swing!

The year is flying by and we have so many exciting things going on in 5th Grade. We started off 2009 studying the 1920's and 1930's. Student shared some wonderful projects on 1920's legends like Louis Armstrong, Charles Lindbergh, Henry Ford, Babe Ruth, and Langston Hughes. Then we participated in a model stock market activity. Ask your child what he or she knows about the economy. You may be surprised to hear the answer!

Starting next week, we will be studying genetics and heredity as part of our science curriculum. We also have a field trip coming up to the Teaching Museum to review our study of the Civil War.

Keep checking back for more updates on all of the action in 5th grade!
